Here are the first photos of the cataraman. I took the boat out to Lake Tapps on saturday June 24, 2000.
I worked on it all day saturday, and finally got it in the water late sunday afternoon. I should also mention
David, Destry and my grandfather, all helped work on the boat.

Before bringing it out to the lake, I had gone through the trailer making sure it was road worthy and street legal.
I also cleaned the boat up, and ordered and purchased all the replacement parts I thought where needed.

The head sheets where replaced, along with dock lines and the roller furling line.
I had to create some boat plugs. The sails where in reasonable condition, after a few rolls of sail tape.
|
The trampoline had to be replaced. The orginal was shot,
and structure of this boat appears to depend on the trampoline.
Thanks to the Hobie dealer in Kirkland, WA I was able to have a trampline custom made.

Once I got this boat in the water, everone had the same reacation. WOW! this boat is fast!
There was little to no wind as you can see by the photos, but that didn't stop this boat from taking off.
I can't wait to get this boat in the Puget Sound, with some wind, and see what she can do.

For a first run she did very well. There are a few parts I missed. And she needs some work on the rudder. I need to fix the battens in the main sail. Get a halyard on the head jib.
One more good weekend working on her at the lake and she should be ready for some salt.
